Do you want to get started on your family tree but don't know where to begin?

Let us help you become an amateur ancestry detective and learn how to trace those distant relatives for yourself.

We offer one-to-one tuition to enable you to start tracing your family tree with confidence - we will help you save time and money by teaching you how best to start your research and how to maintain your records.

After an intial conversation we will carry out some basic research before we meet you and then work with you to help you find out more about your ancestors. We will explain what you need to get started and where you can locate it - using both local and national sources. We will show you how to search the Internet and give you the opportunity to try out some of the more-well-known databases for yourself as well as introduce you to some of the more obscure websites which contain a wealth of information.

At the Ancestry Detectives' School we demonstrate the the importance of keeping proper records and noting all sources for future refererence. We will also demonstrate some of the more popular family tree software packages so you can start to record the lives of your ancestors electronically.
